COD Online Shopping in Pakistan: How Cash on Delivery Works, Step by Step (2026)
Published 2026-11-01 · OnlineShoppingPakistan.pk
Cash on Delivery (COD) is the way most people in Pakistan shop online. You choose a product on a website, give your delivery details, and pay the courier in cash only when the parcel reaches your door. No bank card, no advance transfer and no mobile wallet is needed. This guide walks through a COD order from the first click to the moment you open the box, so you know exactly what happens at each step, what you pay and what to do if something goes wrong.
If you want tips on spotting fake sellers and unsafe websites, read our safe online shopping guide for Pakistan. This article focuses on the COD process itself.
What does "Cash on Delivery" actually mean?
With COD the store sends your parcel through a courier company, and the courier collects the payment from you on the store's behalf. The store is paid only after you have paid the rider. That is why COD feels safe: if the parcel never arrives, you have not lost any money.
At OnlineShoppingPakistan.pk every order is Cash on Delivery, anywhere in Pakistan, and the price on each product page already includes delivery. There is no separate COD fee added at the door. Our Cash on Delivery page sums up the rules in one place.
Step 1: Choose the product and check the final price
Before you order, read the product page properly: the photos, the description, what is in the box, and the size or capacity. Then look at the price. On many websites the product price is shown first and delivery or "COD charges" are added at checkout or, worse, demanded by the rider. A good COD store shows one final number.
- On our store, the price on every product (for example in kitchen gadgets or rechargeable lights) is the total you pay per item, delivery included.
- If you order 2 or 3 pieces, the total is simply the price × quantity.
Step 2: Fill in the COD order form
A COD order needs only a few details. On our product pages the form asks for:
- Full name – the person who will receive the parcel.
- Phone number – the courier needs it to find you on delivery day.
- City and full address – house number, street, block or sector, area and a nearby landmark.
- Email – so there is a written record of your order.
- Quantity and optional notes (colour, size, or a preferred delivery time).
You will never be asked for a CNIC number, bank card, PIN or OTP code to place a COD order. If any "seller" or "courier" asks you for an OTP, it is a scam – hang up.
Address tip: most failed COD deliveries happen because the rider cannot find the house. Write the address the way you would explain it to a guest: "House 12, Street 4, Block C, near the green mosque". Our city guides for Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad show local examples.
Step 3: Order number and confirmation
When you submit the form you see an order number on the screen. Keep it – it is the quickest way to ask about your order later. COD stores in Pakistan confirm orders before sending them, because a parcel that is refused at the door costs the seller courier charges both ways. We confirm every order before dispatch, so please keep your phone and email reachable after ordering.
Step 4: Dispatch and delivery time
After confirmation the parcel is packed and handed to the courier. Delivery usually takes 2–5 working days to Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar and other big cities. Smaller towns and remote areas can take a little longer, and public holidays, rain or fog in winter can add a day. Details are in our shipping policy.
Step 5: Paying the rider
- Keep the exact cash ready. Riders carry little change, and a long wait at the gate is no fun for anyone.
- Check the amount. It should match the total you saw when ordering. On our store there are no extra charges at the door.
- Check the outer packaging before you pay: it should be sealed, not torn or re-taped. If it is badly damaged, take a photo in front of the rider.
- Ask for the receipt or keep the airway bill stuck on the parcel.
Most courier companies in Pakistan do not allow the parcel to be opened before payment. That is normal and is why the next step matters.
Step 6: Open the parcel and record a short video
Record a short unboxing video on your phone, starting with the sealed parcel. Check that the product, colour and quantity match your order, that nothing is broken, and that the accessories mentioned on the product page are inside. For gadgets, charge them and test them on the same day; for unstitched suits and bedsheets, check the pieces and fabric before cutting or washing.
Step 7: If something is wrong – COD returns
Paying cash does not mean you lose your rights. If an item arrives defective, damaged or different from what you ordered, report it within 7 days under our returns policy. Email us on the contact page with your order number and the photos or unboxing video, and keep the item and packaging. Opened beauty and personal-care items and cut fabric cannot be returned for hygiene and practical reasons unless they arrived faulty.
Why you should not refuse a confirmed COD parcel
Refusing a parcel "just because" is the biggest problem in COD online shopping in Pakistan. The seller pays the courier to send it and to bring it back, and stores often block numbers with repeated refusals, which means you lose access to COD. If you change your mind, tell the store before the parcel is dispatched.
What sells well with Cash on Delivery
COD is ideal for practical everyday products where you want to see the item before trusting a new store. Popular choices with our customers:
- Kitchen gadgets like the 2-litre manual push chopper the 2-in-1 glass oil dispenser and the new electric masala grinder.
- Rechargeable lights for load-shedding, such as the rechargeable flood light and rechargeable inspection light.
- Baby essentials such as warm baby blankets for winter.
- Beauty and makeup, laptop bags and winter dhanak suits.
